Following the 2015 presidential elections, HE. Dr. John P. Magufuli had run his campaign under the tagline “Hapa Kazi Tu” directly translating to “Only Work Here” but truly meaning “I Mean Business”. The following year, 2016 Vodacom needed a campaign for its high-speed data services. As it turns out, the word speed in Kiswahili is “Kasi”. It was a no-brainer to run with the same tagline that put a president in power by switching one letter in the sentence to give it an entirely new meaning i.e. from “Hapa Kazi Tu” to “Hapa Kasi Tu” which translates to: “Only Speed Here”. The result? Pure marketing magic.
